One of the founding partners of the firm, Mr. Rutter has over 45 years of experience as a trial lawyer. As one of the leading members of the Maritime and Admiralty Bar, he has served as chairman and vice chairman of the Maritime and Admiralty section of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and has lectured frequently to the ATLA at annual conventions for the past 24 years. Mr. Rutter also has addressed the American Bar Association Convention.
Known for his success at both the trial and appellate levels, Mr. Rutter has tried hundreds of cases in state and federal courts and is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
Mr. Rutter is active in many professional and community organizations and has served as State Chairman of Ducks Unlimited. He is a member of the Norfolk and Portsmouth Bar Association, the Virginia Beach Bar Association and is a President’s Club Member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association.
