Robert L. Mills has been an active litigator for more than 30 years, trying cases in State and Federal Courts throughout Virginia and the East Seaboard. He began his practice with the firm of White, Reynolds, Smith & Winters defending such clients as General Motors, Ford Motor Company and numerous insurance carriers. He has served as general counsel for Imperial Casualty and Indemnity Co. a provider of law enforcement liability insurance to cities, towns and counties throughout the continental United States. Since 1987, Mr. Mills has devoted his practice exclusively to representing injured persons, especially cases involving serious injury, death or difficult issues of liability or complicated insurance issues.
Mr. Mills has tried numerous cases to verdict in State and Federal Courts all over the Commonwealth of Virginia and has won million dollar verdicts in both state and federal court in multiple states. He is certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy in civil trial practice and holds their highest peer review rating of "AV" reserved for those evaluated at the highest level of professional excellence. His trial practice focuses on products and premises liability, medical malpractice and automobile and tractor trailer collisions. Mr. Mills has written for legal publications and lectured on trial practice and is a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, Virginia State Bar, the American Association for Justice, Norfolk and Portsmouth Bar Association and the Virginia Beach Bar Association.
Mr. Mills has been admitted to practice before the Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, United States Supreme Court, Fourth Circuit United States Court of Appeals and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. He serves as one of two managing partners for the firm and has many varied interests including scuba diving, underwater photography and alpine skiing. He has many years of experience as a soccer coach at all youth levels and holds an NSCAA National Coaching License. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Virginia Beach Travel Soccer Club, Hampton Roads Soccer Council, and the Virginia Opera.
