Toyota Halts U.S. Sales of Camry, 7 Other Models

Fox News states that Toyota Motor Corporation will be halting production at six North-American plants due to the faulty gas pedals that can stick causing a car to accelerate without warning.  Toyota issued a recall of eight models which involved 2.3 million vehiles.

This could also become an issue in Europe because similar accelerator parts are used. Toyota is unaware of any accidents or injuries that have occured due to the pedal problems associated with the recall, but is unable to rule them out.

Tuesday's announcement follows a larger U.S. recall months earlier of 4.2 million vehicles because of problems with gas pedals becoming trapped under floor mats, causing sudden acceleration. That problem was the cause of several crashes, including some fatalities.
