Virginia Beach:

Stars and Stripes Explosion

Monday, July 4, 2016

Located at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront; On the beach at 20th Street and in the 17th, 24th and 31st Street Parks, Virginia Beach, VA 23451.

Highlights: Enjoy multiple live performances on oceanfront stages that offer something for everyone: patriotic and classical to a Motown tribute, a cover band playing all your favorites. And don’t forget about the fireworks! Symphonicity is the main musical offering for Stars & Stripes Explosion. Under the direction of David Kunkel over the years, Symphonicity has been an integral part of this growing event. At the main stage on the beach at 24th Street, watch the U.S. Fleet Forces Wind Ensemble and U.S. Fleet Forces Four Star Edition band beginning at 7:00 PM. The U.S. Fleet Forces Wind Ensemble, led by Lieutenant Coats, is the largest of the U.S. Fleet Forces Band’s performing units. The show will segue into a spectacular fireworks show at 9:30 PM that promises to explode over the ocean in a burst of colors and patterns! Click the link below for the full entertainment schedule. Annual Fourth of July Great American Picnic & Fireworks

Monday, July 4, 2016 from 12:00 PM until 10:00 PM.

Located at Town Point Park Norfolk at Waterside Drive, Norfolk, VA 23510.

Highlights: Enjoy a traditional all American fare, including hot dogs, hamburgers, barbecue, seafood, buttered corn on the cob, juicy watermelon, lemonade, and much more available for purchase! Relax on the lawn and enjoy the live entertainment by the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command Band, then watch as the sky lights up with the fireworks display at 9:30 PM! This event is free and open to the public.

4th Of July Stars in the Sky

Monday, July 4, 2016 from 6:00 PM until 10:00 PM.

Located at Victory Landing Park at 23rd Street, Newport News, VA 23607.

Highlights: Enjoy a spectacular view of the James River while celebrating the 4th of July. This event features live music, food vendors, free children’s rides, and fireworks over the James River. Admission and parking are free. Victory Landing Park is located at Exit 6 from I-664, just minutes from Colonial Williamsburg, Norfolk, Virginia Beach and all Newport News attractions.

Fort Monroe:
July Fourth at Fort Monroe

Monday, July 4, 2016. Entertainment is offered from 6:30 PM until 10:00 PM.

Located at the Intersection of Griffith and Fenwick Roads at Fort Monroe, VA 23651.

Highlights: Enjoy family fun activities in the Wherry Quarter of Fort Monroe. During the day, you can visit the beaches and Engineer Wharf Fishing Pier. City of Hampton lifeguards will be on duty from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM. Visit the Casemate Museum to explore the military history of Fort Monroe and gather your Fort Monroe National Monument Junior Ranger program information and Passport stamps. Bring your lawn chair, picnic basket, and blanket to Wherry Quarter of Fort Monroe at 6:30 PM and listen to the USAF Heritage of America Rhythm in Blue Ensemble. At 8:00 PM, the Music by the Bay Summer Concert continues with a performance from USAF Heritage of America Concert Band and capped off with an Air Force flyover before the fireworks at 9:15 PM. Pyrotecnico of New Castle, PA will present a close proximity light show at 9:15 PM on the fortress wall. Admission is free. Food vendors will be available.

Chesapeake:

Celebrate Freedom: Concert & Fireworks

Sunday, July 3, 2016 at 5:00 PM.

Located at Chesapeake City Park at 900 City Park Drive, Chesapeake, VA 23320.

Highlights: Celebrate the 4th of July weekend with the U.S. Army TRADOC Command Band, from Fort Monroe, providing stirring patriotic sounds. Following the concert, fireworks by Pyrotechnico will illuminate the dark sky after sunset. Also enjoy face painting, a 3-years-and-under play area, giant lawn games, inflatables and more! Admission is free to the public. There is a $5.00 fee for on-site parking. Bring lawn chairs and/or blankets. There are concessions available for a picnic supper.

36th Annual South Norfolk Parade & Picnic in the Park

Monday, July 4, 2016 from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM.

Located at Lakeside Park at 1441 Bainbridge Boulevard, Chesapeake, 23324.

Highlights: Enjoy a 4th of July tradition in Chesapeake! The event features a parade, entertainment, food, games, paddleboat rides, children’s crafts and family fun! The Parade steps off at 10:00 AM and Picnic in the Park begins at 11:00 AM. This event is free to the public.

Portsmouth’s Annual Fireworks Show

Sunday, July 3, 2016 – 9:15 p.m.

The city’s annual fireworks show will be located at the South Mill Pond located across from Portsmouth City Hall.

Highlights: The City’s annual fireworks display is Sunday, July 3, 2016, 9:15 p.m. at the South Mill Pond, located across from Portsmouth City Hall. The rain date is scheduled for Tuesday July 5th, 2016 at the same time. Portsmouth has a long standing tradition of hosting one of the seacoast areas finest displays of fireworks.

Williamsburg:

Spirit of America Laser Show

Through the month of July, 2016 at 11:30 AM.

Located at The Virginia Living Museum at 524 J. Clyde Morris Boulevard, Newport News, VA 23601.

Highlights: Celebrate America with this laser show in the Virginia Living Museum’s Abbitt Planetarium! “Spirit of America” mixes great patriotic music with America-inspired rock and roll and songs that have defined American music. Rock on to great artists like John Fogerty, Garth Brooks, Lee Greenwood and so many, many more. Recommended for ages 6 and up. Admission is free for Virginia Living Museum members, and $4.00 plus museum admission for non-members.

Fourth of July Fireworks in Williamsburg

Monday, July 4, 2016

Located at The Historic area of Williamsburg near 101 A Visitor Center Drive, Williamsburg, VA 23185.

Highlights: Join Colonial Williamsburg for a special militia muster. Enjoy a salute to the 13 original states, featuring music performed by the Fifes and Drums, flags of each state, the firing of muskets and cannon. The day concludes with fireworks visible from both Market Square and Palace Green. Free parking is available in the Colonial Williamsburg Regional Visitor Center parking lot and, throughout July 4, ride Colonial Williamsburg’s buses free. Guests are invited to use white glow sticks to light up the night during the fireworks. Glow sticks are part of the Independence Day Souvenir Bags for purchase that also include a blanket, two refillable mugs and two hand-held flags. Market stands will be available throughout The Revolutionary City to purchase cold lemonade, pretzels, frozen treats, cookies and refillable mugs.

Stars & Stripes Spectacular

Monday, July 4, 2016 from 5:30 PM until 9:30 PM.

Located at The Constant’s Wharf Park at 100 East Constance Road, Suffolk, VA 23434.

Highlights: Enjoy the Stars and Stripes Spectacular as the skies of Suffolk light up with the firework show over the Nansemond River at Constant’s Wharf Park & Marina. The park will open at 5:30 PM with entertainment, children’s activities, local merchandise vendors and food choices available. The fireworks show will begin at 9:00 PM, for the whole family to enjoy! Music will be provided by Slap Nation, and the Children’s Area is only $5.00 for kids 12 and under. There will be free shuttles from the First Baptist Church, Godwin Courts, and City Hall parking lots beginning at 5:15 PM. This event is free and open to the public.

Yorktown:

Yorktown Liberty Celebration

Sunday, July 3, 2016 and Monday, July 4, 2016 from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM.

Located at The Yorktown Victory Center at 200 Water Street, Yorktown, VA 23690.

Highlights: In the Yorktown Victory Center’s Continental Army encampment and Revolution-period farm, observe tactical and artillery drills, take part in military exercises, and learn about the challenges that faced our nation’s founders, including those who signed the historic document. The Yorktown Victory Center’s “Liberty Celebration” daytime events complement the Yorktown Fourth of July Celebration taking place in historic Yorktown on the evening of July 4, 2016. For single price admission, adults are $9.75 and children ages 6-12 are $5.50. Save with a combination ticket to Jamestown Settlement: $21.25 for adults and $10.75 for children ages 6-12. Children under 6 are free. Parking is free.

Yorktown Independence Day Celebration

Monday, July 4, 2016 from 9:00 AM until 9:30 PM.

Located at 331 Water Street, Yorktown, VA 23690.

Highlights: Come salute America along the Yorktown waterfront beginning with a 9:00 AM patriotic parade on Water Street. Evening activities feature a bell-ringing ceremony at 7:00 PM, live musical entertainment at 8:00 PM at Riverwalk Landing, and spectacular fireworks on the York River at 9:15 PM. This celebration is a free event.
