July 4th Celebration

Tuesday, July 4, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM.

Located at Mount Trashmore Park at 310 Edwin Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.

Highlights: Celebrate America’s independence with live music by local musicians, delicious foods, and of course, booming fireworks! When parking lots at Mount Trashmore Park are full, Edwin Drive between Independence Boulevard and South Boulevard may close.

Stars and Stripes Explosion

Tuesday, July 4, 2017 beginning at 7:30 PM.

Located at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront on the beach at 20th Street and the 17th, 24th, and 31st Street Parks, Virginia Beach, VA 23451.

Highlights: Multiple performance starting at 7:30 PM! The oceanfront attract thousands of out-of-town visitors and local residents for a “star-spangled” salute to this great country of ours! A stage erected on the beach at 20th Street becomes the focal point for a performance by Symphonicity (the symphony orchestra of the City of Virginia Beach) and the Virginia Beach Chorale. With a program that encompasses patriotic songs, Broadway standards, movie themes, and folk music, nostalgia reigns as the presentation segues into a magical fireworks show that explodes over the oceanfront in brilliant colors and patterns. Stars & Stripes Explosion is an unabashed tribute to the ideals, personalities, history, and music of the United States. Fireworks at 9:30 PM.

Annual Fourth of July Great American Picnic & Fireworks

Tuesday, July 4, 2017 from 3:00 PM until 10:00 PM.

Located at Norfolk’s Town Point Park at Waterside Drive, Norfolk, VA 23510.

Highlights: Bring your family and friends down to Town Point Park! Feast on traditional All American Fare, including hot dogs, hamburgers, barbecue, seafood, buttered corn on the cob, juicy watermelon, lemonade… with all the fixin’s and much more! Relax on the lawn and enjoy the sound of live entertainment along the beautiful Downtown Norfolk, Virginia Waterfront. Then, watch as the sky lights up with the fireworks display at approximately 9:30 PM!

4th of July in the Abbitt Planetarium

Tuesday, July 4, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 10:30 PM.

Located at the Virginia Living Museum at 524 J. Clyde Morris Boulevard, Newport News, VA 23601.

Highlights: Celebrate America with this patriotic laser show in the Virginia Living Museum’s nice cool theater. “Spirit of America” mixes great patriotic music with America-inspired rock and roll and songs that have defined American music. Rock on to great artists like John Fogerty, Garth Brooks, Lee Greenwood and so many, many more. Don’t miss out on some Independence Day fun! Recommended for ages 6 and up. Shown at 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 PM.

4th of July Stars in the Sky

Tuesday, July 4, 2017 from 7:00 PM until 10:00 PM.

Located at Victory Landing Park at 50 25th Street, Newport News, VA 23607.

Highlights: Everyone is invited to the Virginia Peninsula’s biggest Independence Day party: Fourth of July Stars in the Sky at Victory Landing Park. This waterside park, which offers spectacular views of the James River, is filled with 20,000 people who come to celebrate our nation’s birthday. The evening begins as crowds gather to enjoy summer’s favorite foods from a variety of vendors. As dusk approaches, the stage comes alive with music. As the last note from the concert ends, the sky over the James River explodes with a kaleidoscope of color in a spectacular fireworks show.

Celebrate Freedom – Concert & Fireworks

Monday, July 3, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 10:00 PM.

Located at Chesapeake City Park at 900 City Park Drive, Chesapeake, VA 23320.

Highlights: Celebrate America’s Birthday with the U.S. Army TRADOC Band, from Fort Monroe, providing stirring patriotic sounds. Following the concert, fireworks by Pyrotechnico will illuminate the dark sky after sunset. Parks, Recreation and Tourism also brings you the best in children’s activities and family entertainment: face painting, a 3-years-and-under play area, giant lawn games, inflatables and more! Bring lawn chairs and/or blanket (no pop-up tents permitted). Food vendors will be on site.

Fourth of July Fireworks

The evening of Tuesday, July 4, 2017.

Located at Historic Williamsburg at 101 A Visitor Center Drive, Williamsburg, VA 23185.

Highlights: In Williamsburg, the quest for independence took its first steps. On the Fourth of July, we celebrate America’s freedom and the Declaration of Independence. Celebrate the anniversary of the nation’s birth in the 18th Century City! Join Colonial Williamsburg for a special militia muster. Enjoy a salute to the 13 original states, featuring music performed by the Fifes and Drums, a display of the flags of each state, and the firing of muskets and cannon. The day concludes with fireworks visible from both Market Square and Palace Green.

Liberty Celebration

Tuesday, July 4, 2017 from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM.

Located at the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown at 200 Water Street, Yorktown, VA 23690.

Highlights: Salute the 241st anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. At American Revolution Museum at Yorktown’s Continental Army encampment and Revolution-period farm, observe artillery drills, take part in military exercises, and learn about the challenges that faced our nation’s founders, including those who signed the historic document. “Liberty Celebration” daytime events complement the Yorktown Fourth of July Celebration taking place in historic Yorktown on the evening of July 4. Special program funded in part by the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, Inc., Annual Fund.

Independence Day Celebration

Highlights: Enjoy this family friendly celebration featuring an 8:00 AM Yorktown Independence Day 8K run and 5K walk at York High School and a patriotic parade along Water and Main Streets at 9:00 AM. During the day, activities cease to give families time to enjoy the beach, visit our shops and museums, or head on home for their Independence Day cookout. Come back for our evening activities including the 7:00 PM Bell-Ringing Ceremony, 8:00 PM Patriotic Concert, and the amazing fireworks show on the York River at 9:15 PM. Bring your flags, wear red, white, and blue, and celebrate America!

Pre-4th of July Cookout

Saturday, July 1, 2017 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM.

Located at Morgan Memorial Library at 443 West Washington Street, Suffolk, VA 23434.

Highlights: Celebrate Independence Day a little early with a day of free food, fun, and festivities! Games, contests, and prizes will be held outside in the parking lot. One meal ticket per person. Food is first come first served, while supplies last. It is recommended for those interested in food to arrive at the beginning of this event.

Stars & Stripes Spectacular

Tuesday, July 4, 2017 beginning at 5:30 PM.

Located at Constant’s Wharf Park at 100 East Constance Road, Suffolk, VA 23434.

Highlights: Enjoy the Stars and Stripes Spectacular, as the skies of Suffolk light up with the firework show over the Nansemond River at Constant’s Wharf Park & Marina. The park will open at 5:30 PM with entertainment, children’s activities, local merchandise vendors and food choices available. The fireworks show will begin at 9:00 PM for the whole family to enjoy! Music will be provided by the popular band Hotcakes.

Fort Monroe:

July 4th at Fort Monroe

Tuesday, July 4, 2017 from 10:00 AM until 10:00 PM.

Located at Fort Monroe at the intersection of Griffith and Fenwick Roads, Fort Monroe, VA 23651.

Highlights: You and your whole family can spend Independence Day at Fort Monroe! Family fun activities will be offered in the Wherry Quarter of Fort Monroe. Added to the usual popular attractions and special events this year, Pyrotecnico of New Castle, PA will present an aerial fireworks display at 9:15 PM on Mill Creek to complete the day. Start the day at 10:00 AM with a Flag Ceremony at the Flagstaff Bastion as we honor President James Monroe. Beaches and Engineer Wharf Fishing Pier open from sunrise to sunset. City of Hampton lifeguards will be on duty from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM. Stop by the Casemate Museum from 10:30 AM until 4:30 PM to explore the rich history and gather your Fort Monroe National Monument Junior Ranger program information and Passport stamps. From 3:30PM until 8:30 PM, bring your lawn chairs, picnic basket, and blanket to Wherry Quarter and explore the many family friendly activities including games, give-away items, and crafts as well as exhibits from NASA Langley Research Center. At 7:00 PM, enjoy the high energy, electrifying sounds of the USAF Heritage of America “Full Spectrum” Ensemble followed by the fireworks display beginning at 9:15 PM. Food vendors will be onsite.
