Virginia International Panfest

Friday, May 12, 2017 from 6:00 PM until 10:00 PM and Saturday, May 13, 2017 from 10:00 AM until 10:00 PM.

Highlights: Join world-class performers for a spectacular celebration of Caribbean music on the waterfront in beautiful Virginia Beach! At Virginia Arts Festival’s 15th Annual Virginia International PANFest, you will have the opportunity to learn from Steelpan virtuosos, compete with up and coming U.S. and international steel bands, and bask in the sun and ocean breezes. Friday evening features a concert in the 24th Street Park. On Saturday, bands compete for ratings and the coveted Grand Champion Award. Saturday evening, steel drum headliners play on the main stage. Monsters on the Beach

Located at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront, on the beach between 5th and 7th Streets, Virginia Beach, VA 23451.

Highlights: Monsters are taking over the beach at 4 Wheel Parts Monsters on the Beach, presented by Pungo Off Road! This wildly-popular event brings thrills and chills to the Virginia Beach oceanfront as monster trucks battle for ultimate sand domination! This family-targeted event is loud, fast, and exciting. A course is built right on the beach at 6th Street, with bleachers overlooking from the boardwalk. Sand dunes and junk cars combine to make the race course fast and fun for drivers and spectators alike. This is a ticketed event, with prices designed to fit the family budget. Each of the four shows is approximately two hours in length.

Bike Rodeo

Saturday, May 13, 2017 from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM.

Located at the Princess Anne Recreation Center at 1400 Nimmo Parkway, Virginia Beach, VA 23456.

Highlights: May is National Bike Month, so to celebrate, the Bike Rodeo is the event to come to for a good time! Come to the Princess Anne Recreational Center for the day to learn about bike safety and to participate in bike games and decorating. Kids can decorate their own bikes in cool get up for a bike parade! This is guaranteed a fun time for the whole family! 13th Annual International Spring Wine Fest

Dido and Aeneas

Market Music and Art

Highlights: Local band Who We Are Not will perform live in the courtyard. Who We Are Not is headed by husband-and-wife singer songwriters Pamela Jo Sward and Joe Talley who mix a surprising combination of folk, jazz and pop into their music style. This band has played on local radio and television such as the Hampton Roads Show for WAVY TV, and NPR’s Out of the Box hosted by Paul Shugrue. They recently took Veer Magazine’s 2015 Best Emerging Artist Award. Along with music, glass artist Emily Williams, featured in the Embracing Narrative exhibit will demonstrate her lamp-work techniques working in glass.
