Dickens’ Christmas Towne

Highlights: Explore Dickens’ Christmas Towne-a magical holiday village in the Decker Half Moone Center at Nauticus-featuring music, entertainment, food, shops, and more! In celebration of the 175th anniversary of A Christmas Carol, every child visitor will get a free copy of the book, and everyone can enjoy The Art of Christmas, an exhibit of original book sketches by Christmas Carol illustrator P. J. Lynch. Admission is $7.50 for adults, $5 for children (ages 3-12) and free for children ages 2 and under.

5th Annual Christmas Market and Holiday Yule Log Bonfire

Saturday, December 1, 2018 beginning at 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Located at Town Point Park, 1 Waterside Drive Norfolk, VA 23510.
Highlights: Enjoy an evening of holiday traditions at Town Point Park near the Holiday Homecoming Tree. The park transforms into a festive wonderland to feature a massive Yule Log bonfire, Christmas caroling and a visit from Santa. During the festivities, seasonal craft beer, mulled wine, hot chocolate and other holiday treats will be available for purchase. The event is free and open to the public.

34th Annual Grand Illumination Parade

Located at Town Point Park, Downtown Norfolk Waterfront in Norfolk, VA 23510.
Highlights: The 34th Annual Grand Illumination Parade, “The Lights Are Bright On Broadway,” will take place in Downtown Norfolk on Saturday, November 17 at 7pm, bringing thousands of spectators out to take in the beauty, magic, and electric holiday spirit.

Holiday Lights at the Beach

Thursday, November 22, 2018 through Sunday, December 30, 2018 from
5:00pm – 10:00pm Sunday through Thursdays and 5:30pm – 11:00pm Friday- Saturday.
Located at Virginia Beach boardwalk, from 8th to 22nd Street. The entrance is located at 2nd Street.
Highlights: The Holiday Lights at the Beach boardwalk lights display has been a holiday tradition in Virginia Beach for over 20 years. The Holiday Lights display at the boardwalk once covered 30 blocks. However, due to long-term wear and tear on the light displays, the event was shortened last year to feature 50 favorite displays over 12 blocks along the boardwalk, from 8th Street to 22nd Street.

Highlights: On Saturday, December 1, at 5:30pm, join us for the Cox Communications Holiday Parade at the Beach, where almost 90 parade units make their way down Atlantic Avenue in a joyous celebration of the holiday season.

26th Annual Celebration in Lights

Thursday, November 22, 2018 through January 1, 2019 from 5:30 PM until 10:00 PM.
Located in Newport News Park at the intersection of Ft. Eustis Blvd. and Jefferson Ave. in Newport News, VA.
Highlights: Celebration in Lights, Virginia’s first drive-through holiday light event, opens for its 26th season on Thanksgiving night (November 22, 2018). Newport News Park will be transformed by over a million individual lights, creating animated holiday and fanciful scenes. For its 26th year, the event will add special effects snow that will fall on the cars as they drive into the Winter Wonderland area on special nights. The event will also add a new Gingerbread House display and new scenes on its two giant 25′ x 16′ screens of color-changing LED lights. The Forest of Lights display area will have upgraded color-changing LED bulbs to create more complex colors and patterns on the trees. The event will be open each evening, 5:30 – 10:00 p.m., through January 1, 2019.

Turkey Pardoning at the Virginia Living Museum

Highlights: Celebrate the long and healthy lives of our wild turkeys during the VLM’s ninth annual Turkey Pardoning. A city official will pardon the turkeys during a brief ceremony on the outdoor trial beside Turkey/Deer Habitat. Don’t miss turkey-related crafts and displays.

25 Nights of Northern Lights

December 1st, 8th, and 15th, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Located at the 701 Town Center Dr Ste 100, Newport News, VA 23606
Highlights: With the theme Journey to the North Pole, Saturday, December 1 will include an official BayPort Credit Union 25 Nights of Northern Lights kick-off with city dignitaries. Saturday, December 8, is themed Holiday Candy Land and Saturday, December 15 is themed Snow Pets. Various activities will take place that correspond to each week’s theme along with entertainment on three stages, strolling performers and holiday characters, children’s make-and-take holiday crafts, carnival games, and food vendors. On each of the 25 nights, December 1-25, visitors can enjoy a five-minute, theatrical Holiday Magic Light Show happening at the top of each hour from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM

Over 90 crafters to shop from for handmade gifts and decorations! Santa Claus will make an appearance from 12:00 PM until 3:00 PM both days (Parents, bring your camera!). 21st Annual Olde Towne Holiday Music Festival

Saturday, December 8, 2018 from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM.
Located in Olde Towne Portsmouth at 300 High Street, Portsmouth, VA 23704.
Highlights: A favorite holiday tradition in Portsmouth, the Olde Towne Music Festival features strolling carolers from Washington Street to Water Street. Featured performers will be stationed at several locations along the High Street corridor. Children’s activities are held on the Middle Street Mall area adjacent to the Children’s Museum of Virginia. Other highlights include a Children’s Parade, which begins at 10 am and fire pits for roasting marshmallows.

Highlights: The 2018 Holiday Season officially begins in Suffolk on Friday, November 16, with the Suffolk Grand Illumination Ceremony at Market Park in Downtown Suffolk. The event rings in the holidays with the park opening at 6 p.m. Watch the 32′ tree light up when the switch is flipped at 6:15 p.m., illuminating Suffolk for the holiday season. Be there when Santa arrives in style (around 6:30 p.m.) and enjoy seasonal music courtesy of local choirs. Be sure to bring along your camera to capture your children’s smiling faces as they whisper their Christmas wishes to Santa Claus.
