St. Patrick’s Day 2016 is coming! Whether you are looking to see a fun-filled parade, have a bite to eat at an Irish Pub or run a marathon at the Oceanfront, you’ll have a lot to choose from in the seven cities. While St. Patrick’s Day falls on Thursday, March 17^th this year, there will be events taking place throughout the first several weeks of March. Virginia Beach:

Keagan’s Irish Pub St. Patrick’s Day Celebration

Saturday, March 12, 2016 from 12:00 AM to 12:00 AM.

Admission: Free and open to the public.

Highlights: Come out to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at our Town Center Irish Pub, Keagan’s! The music, festivities, toasting and beers will be flowing in celebration of the Irish Holiday.

The Sports and Fitness Expo and Packet Pick up are located at the Virginia Beach Convention Center at 1000 19th Street, Virginia Beach, VA 23451.

Highlights: Come celebrate on St. Patrick’s Day weekend! The Yuengling Shamrock marathon starts at 8:30 AM on Sunday March 20, 2016 at 31st Street and Atlantic Avenue. The Anthem half marathon starts at 7:00 AM on Sunday March 20, 2016 at 42nd Street and Atlantic Avenue. The TowneBank Shamrock 8k starts at 7:45 AM on Saturday March 19, 2016 at 30th Street and Pacific Avenue. All participants will receive FREE race photos! Racing Highlights include: 30,000 participants, free race photos, Murphy’s Irish stew, 2-Day Leesa Shamrock Sports & Fitness Expo, Speaker Series at Expo, course entertainment and more!

Admission: $25.00 per ticket.

Highlights: Celebrating 6 months until the tapping of the kegs at Oktoberfest, the return of warm spring weather, and most importantly to help raise money for The Beach Ambassadors of Virginia Beach! Come enjoy Wasserhund Brewing Company, Home Republic Brewpub, Big Ugly Brewing Company, Pleasure House Brewing Company, and Back Bay Brewing Company beer. Authentic German food will be available for additional purchase from The Bier Garden, or Wasserhund Pizza. From 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, there will be a live DJ spinning all the fun day drinking music you can handle. From 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM, The Special Guests will take the stage. Highlights: Since 1981, Kappa Delta has been a proud supporter of Prevent Child Abuse America (PCAA), an organization founded by the late Donna Stowe one of our own Kappa Delta alumna. The mission of PCAA, to prevent the abuse and neglect of our nation’s children. To date, Kappa Delta has donated more than $15 million to help prevent child abuse in our country. A full 80 percent of the money raised stays in the community and is donated to our local beneficiary Champions for Children: Prevent Child Abuse Hampton Roads; the remaining 20 percent is donated to PCAA’s national office for its national programs.

22^nd Annual Shamrockin’ in Ghent (St. Paddy’s Block Party)

Highlights: Shamrockin’ in Ghent is Hope House Foundation’s annual St. Patrick’s Day block party on Colley Avenue in Ghent. Admission: For those in green, admission is Free! For those not in green, you will get pinched with a $10 cover charge.

Highlights: Come out, wear green, dress up as a leprechaun! Shamrock your way to the winery! This is in celebration of the Shamrockin’ in Ghent and St. Patty’s Day. Featuring $3 glasses of select red and white wine. Bottle of wine valued at $75 will be given to the best-dressed individual or couple of the evening. 49^th Annual Norfolk Saint Patrick’s Day Parade

Saturday, March 19, 2016 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM, with the After Parade Party* from 12:00 PM until 4:00 PM.

Highlights: The 49th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a fun filled Irish parade with all the marching bands, clowns, floats, cars, and people necessary to make up an exciting and enjoyable parade. The Parade steps off at 10:00 AM. Don’t miss the After Parade Party, presented by the Columbian Club of Ocean View starting at 12:00 PM at 211 W. Government Avenue, featuring live bands: Tidewater Drive (outside) and The Janitors (inside the Hall). Plenty of food and refreshments will be available as well. *Open to the Public- 21 and up.
