ROBERT GILLIKIN, SERVING OF COUNSEL
Attorney Robert Gillikin has spent almost two decades helping social security disability and veterans’ disability clients get the benefits they need and deserve. He began his legal career in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and has since passed the bar in three states, lending to his legal expertise and professionalism. Over the years, Rob has seen first-hand how frustrating and difficult the application process for disability benefits can be. Balancing his legal tenure and skills in social work, he strives to get the best possible results for clients who have been unjustly denied. He prides himself on being a strong advocate for those who feel they have no one in their corner, dedicating himself to ensuring the people who need and deserve benefits get them.

Since 2003, Mr. Gillikin has handled over 7,000 disability claims cases, successfully representing clients before the Social Security Administration and in appeals to federal courts. He also works with hundreds of veterans who’ve been denied benefits from the VA get the help the deserve. Robs commitment to this area of law is cemented by the sheer number of applicants who desperately need an advocate fighting on their behalf. Regardless of his caseload, Rob meets with each client individually and remains an accessible and caring steward throughout the claims process.
His dedication to the local community doesn’t stop at law; he also serves as a member and officer of the Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia, the West Ghent Civic League, and formerly with a number of non-profits such as the Southeastern Virginia Homeless Coalition. A true Virginian, Robert Gillikin hails from the beach but loves the Blue Ridge and is proud to call both the coast and the mountains home, often visiting his mountain cabin with his wife and two daughters.
ROBERT MILLS, RETIRED
Robert Mills graduated from Virginia Military Institute with honors in English and from Washington and Lee School of Law. Now retired, his career in trial practice and civil litigation extended over four decades. He obtained multiple million-dollar settlements and verdicts for clients across the country. He has appeared on many occasions as Appellate Counsel before the Supreme Court of Virginia and the U. S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, advocating for both individuals, corporations and even the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Mr. Mills’ cases have had a lasting impact on important legal issues including: Sovereign Immunity (Hinchey v. Ogden) Medical Damages (Walters v. Littleton) Evidence of Post-Accident Remedial Measures (Holcomb v. Nations Bank) and Expanded Coverage for Uninsured Motorists (Slade v. Hartford Insurance) to name only a few. He has long been certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy in Civil Litigation and has held the highest rating (AV) in legal ability and ethical standards from Martindale-Hubbell since 2004. He held the record for the highest Wrongful Death verdict in Virginia and has tried cases across many areas and disciplines including, Maritime, Railroad, Automobile, Product Defects, Medical Negligence and Police Misconduct. His outside interests include scuba diving, underwater photography and video, tennis, travel, music and languages, and conducting pre-trial focus groups.

For more than 30 years, Robert Walsh was a leading advocate for injured workers throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. Now retired, he began his legal career working with the Benefits Review Board of the United States Department of Labor where he handled claims reviewed and decided according to the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act. This foundational experience enabled Robert to become a leading expert and acclaimed resource in the area of workers’ rights, conducting seminars throughout the state for attorneys, unions and injured workers. Protecting the rights of workers injured in dangerous jobs is truly Robert’s ‘life’s mission’ — one he conducts proudly, and with great success, having won impressive settlements for literally hundreds of clients.
