Hey there! This is Brother Rutter, from Rutter Mills. I want to talk to you today about pedestrian accidents. We often get questions about these, and what this basically means is when somebody is injured walking alongside of a road or crossing a road and they are hit by a vehicle.

So, when you’re walking along the side of the road, obviously the rule says, “Stay to the side of the road to the best extent that you can.” If a car happens to hit you, it’s likely going to be their fault. We have so many times where people these days are texting, or not paying attention, or even drunk driving. So, when you’re walking along the side of the road, be extremely careful. And if you or a family member is hurt in this way, call us immediately. Investigations of these types of claims is important.

We also handle many claims where people are injured where they’re crossing the street. And, the rule says, if there is a crosswalk at an intersection that is nearby and available, you should use it. So, do that! That’s the safest way to cross. But if you’re injured crossing in another way also you still may have a claim. These claims, as I mentioned, take a lot of investigation. And you would be surprised at how many things we can learn from getting information from the other person’s car, or the other person’s cell phone.
